5k much?

so craig and i ran a 5k on saturday. i would say we ran a 5k together but that would imply that we actually ran side by side, which was not the case. the night before the race i told craig i was going to the computer to get my ipod playlist ready for the big event (i rely on music to get me through moments of trial---and running). well, i think i hurt his feelings a little bit---because he started to pout. apparently he had a grand vision of us running the race and crossing the finish line in unison. so i had to explain to him that he would be beyond bored if he ran with me because he is actually a runner. he can not run at all for months--- years, even, and then go out and run 13 miles on a whim. i know this because it actually happened. i, on the other hand, am very proud of how far i have come as far as running goes (think loathe, detest, would rather die--to kind of enjoy) but i had to explain to him that when it comes to my speed of travel, the image of running through a vat of the thickest molasses known to man was a kind analogy. and don't for one minute expect me to be able to carry on a conversation while running. that is a whole other level of existence---like the one michael jackson lives on(read insane). on race day we began the race side by side only because we were massed together with the other participants at the starting line. once we had some breathing room, craig looked back to see that he was already at least 15 feet in front of me. he then did the noble thing---jogged back to me, gave me a kiss on the forehead, and said, "see you later." i was glad because those headphones were not coming out of my ears for nothin'. thanks to the music of this chick i finished the race despite the 2 obnoxious inclines near the finish. craig was waiting at the finish line to cheer me on and we had a great time accomplishing something together.

Good for you! I am amazed that you even THOUGHT about running a 5K (only because it will be the last thing on MY mind....ever!)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Great job Annie and Craig. Annie, you and I would have been thick as thieves on that race, since I walk faster than I run :)

good for you, Anne. I couldn't run a 5K if a dragon was chasing me.

A big Congrats. That is awesome. I am with on running. I am not a huge fan, but would like to be. What a great thing you two did.

Way to go, Anne! A would be the same way about wanting to "chat" while running. We did a 5K together once and he quickly realized that I would finish long after he was done. :)
