here's to the second trimester...

today is the first day of my second trimester...so why did i just throw up in my sink??  i have never thrown up when pregnant before but i have been extra nauseated with this pregnancy.  i don't know what happened.  i started feeling nauseous, but then came the tell-tale signs that i was actually going to throw up...the dizziness and cold sweat, and sure enough, it happened.  and it happened while sy was sitting at the counter right behind me.  it went something like this...

sy:  mom, will you play space police with me?

me: WRETCH INTO THE SINK

sy: mom, i really want you to play robber and space cop with me.

me: WRETCH #2 INTO THE SINK

sy:  please, mom?

me: WRETCH #3 INTO THE SINK, MOAN, WHIMPER

sy:  what does "UHHHNGH" mean?

me: sy...i'm not answering you.  i'm throwing up.

the sweet boy flew to my side after that, poured me a glass of water...and then yelled to his brother, "hey, soren...mom just threw up in the sink!"

last week, craig and i took the boys out for dinner in the city to tell them the big news and they were so excited.  soren is excited to be a big brother and sy has made it very clear that he would like a sister.
soren has taken numerous polls in his kindergarten class about what gender his classmates think the baby will be and today he came home with a lovely picture he drew of me having the baby...i am on a table with a slice across my tummy (he knows that my babies are "cut out of my tummy").  awesome.  and here it is for your enjoyment...

it says, "i am going to have a baby at september twenty-eighth."  i am due september 21 but i think soren would prefer i have the baby on his birthday.

nasty throw up!! With my third, the smell of pee got me yacking, so I would pee, then run to the sink and upchuck. It was awesome. Good luck to you! I can't wait to see this cute baby!

What exciting news!!!!!! We are so thrilled for you guys. The nausea is terrible, though, so I hope it doesn't linger too much longer. I also vote girl.

Your throwing up story reminded me of a time that I was heaving in the toilet and Abby opened the door, saw me, and asked if I could get her a yogurt. Really?

That picture and story is killing me. so dang cute, can't believe the cut right across the old belly. Is that the Dr. holding the baby, then Craig, Sy and Soren? It looks like a flock of cute little birds.

I can relate to throwing up in the sink....not fun at all. Love the drawing. Maybe the baby will come on Susan's birthday????

Sorry you're feeling sick - I know what that's like and it's no fun!
Sounds like the boys are in fine form though, and I think you should frame that drawing - very inspirational! I see that the baby appears to have long hair, indicating that she is indeed a girl.. ;)

That is no fun! I'm so sorry. Sounds like you might be having a girl after all- being that this pregnancy feels so different. I can't wait to find out for sure!

Love the picture!

Pretty sure a little girl may be coming your way then! I wasn't sick at all with Cole but it was yuck with Lyla. That picture is ADORABLE! I love the creativity! Hope the sickness ends soon. Congrats!

I am currently laughing hysterically at this picture of you on the table and wondering if one of mine will draw something similar in the future. When Elly asked how the baby (Miles) was going to get out of me, I told her straight up: "The doctor is going to cut a hole in my stomach and take him out". Brandon was horrified that I said it like that, so he quickly added "It was a really clean knife". Much better, Hon.

T just told me last night when he got home. Yeah! I am so excited for you. When the weather turns nicer we need another girls night, and one of these days we'll get together at one of our houses.
