the end of innocence

guess what we saw behind our house today?

if you click on the picture you should be able to see the little cougar in the orange circle. let me explain...

everything under the blue line is the little hill in our backyard. at the top of our hill is a small road. we first spotted the cougar as she was walking down the trail across the road (the pink dotted line). so originally she was a lot closer but i think we spooked her a bit when we all went running to the window and opened the door so she started heading back up the hill. so basically, life as i knew it is now over----forever. the boys used to play up on the dirt part of the hill, right next to the road---the one the cougar was headed for. i used to let them play out there by themselves because i can see them really well though the window. it now appears that i will be accompanying their every move outside from now on. thanks, cougar. thanks a lot.

here she is zoomed in a little---can you find her? she is almost right in the middle of the photo.

and here she is on super zoom. kind of fuzzy but you can see her.

Yet...you live in the most GORGEOUS setting. I vote for the fence. I'd start with the landlord! I have to admit I was excited to see the cat (not so much later when I read the on-line cougar safety guides, though!)

How awesome to see a cougar! But not awesome to see it right where you live.

Holy Cougar. That is insane. I would have never thought you might see one so close to your home. Let's hope that cougar finds some other backyard to visit.
