go play in traffic!

soren's idea---not mine. seriously, what is up with this dude's 'tude? yesterday soren could have been the professor of "how to be a total pill 101". the powerpoint would be something like this---"i can't run onto the field during sy's soccer game? then i will throw this soccer ball onto the field---repeatedly---instead. you're taking the soccer ball away? then i will huck sy's extra t-shirt onto the field instead. you like that, huh?" when we arrived home and parked in the driveway, something set him off (i don't even remember what) and his coping strategy was to exit the vehicle, run all the way down the driveway, run all the way through the middle of the cul-de-sac, ignore my first attempt to stop him by screaming his name, head for the road and finally stop after i let out a very deep, loud and grainy "ssssoooorrrreeeennn!". this was all as a few of our single male student neighbors looked on. i'm sure they were thinking, "wow---marriage and parenthood looks awesome!" soren finally came to a halt just before stepping foot in the road. i raced out to get him and he said, "hold me!" i told him that since he got himself all the way out there he could walk himself all the way back. and, yes, i had the totally irrational thought, "maybe i should let him get hit by a car. i bet that would teach him to not go running through the streets." yeah, yeah. i know. i didn't do it. i ran after him to save the wee boy from certain death but i can't help but think a tire-grazed toe may have been a little bit helpful.

OK, I'm a little behind in my blog reading so I just got catch up on Soren's stitch episode and of course the attempted foray into traffic. So, yes you are an actual saint I believe, for dealing with two boys for two weeks all by your lonesome! I commend you.

Wow- you go Soren- I guess the stitches didn't slow him down a bit :) Now that I've been to your house I can envision the whole scene in front of you house!!

I have a 3 year old child of my very own, who will remain nameless, who has often caused me to have the EXACT same thoughts!

Yup, I can relate...STILL have those thoughts occasionally and my youngest is TWENTY-FOUR! and the eldest is SIXTY!

Hang in there...the stories only get BETTER (though sady, not fewer)
