this is a problem

so i was at the gym today minding my own business when i see a big, bulky guy wearing what appears to be a t-shirt with the reese's peanut butter cup logo on it. but as i look closer i see that where the word "reese's" is supposed to be, it says "jesus" instead. take a look here. no, this is not my first time seeing one of these but since i was at the gym with nothing else to think about, i realized that i just don't get it. now don't get me wrong---i am a believer. i fully believe in and do my best to follow all that was written about this man (jesus, not the big, bulky gym guy). but what i can't seem to figure out is if these t-shirts, like this one, and, even more offensive in my opinion, this one, are the ultimate act of devotion or completely blasphemous. sure, there are many worse things on t-shirts these days so maybe a little shout out to the divine isn't all that bad. but i find that i can't look at one of these shirts without my face squinching up as if to say, "really? REALLY?" am i alone here? and, by all means, if you are one of the wearers of these chocolatey delicious jesus shirts feel free to explain yourself.

i agree, i think they are weird, but hope that the makers are trying to appeal to a younger hipper jesus crowd. not blasphemy, but not my thing either.

I agree. Those t-shirts have always bothered me. I just don't understand the appeal.

Now, what's this I hear about a farewell party?!?! What?!?

That's the first i have ever seen or heard of those shirts- I don't think I would have even noticed it said that... to each his own :) I know what I'm not getting you for your birthday-

I just shake my head and wonder. I do the same at MANY, MANY, MANY other t-shirts, too, though. We had to make a "dress code" at work banning "message" shirts. We found that common sense is not all that common (nor is good taste!)

I put 'em right up there with Jesus bumper stickers. Yeah, that's where I want my religion...

Anne,
I have a friend who would probably love the shirt. It's so weird, though. Are you moving? Where?

I laughed out loud and woke up one of the babies--
Seriously. Jesus is my Savior, not just another homeboy. I'm quite sure he's not caffenated as well...sigh. C'mon people.
What's next... Holy bottled water?
