Road Trips

So this morning I was thinking about Mom and Pop on their little road trip adventure. To help me picture them I looked up what Pop's S2000 looked like again because I hadn't actually seen it in person.....

Hello! Seriously.... that looks like fun. To see a little bit more of the fun they are having see the post on Craig, Brenda & Jack's blog!

The next thing I thought of was all those road trip movies when some cheesy 80's song is playing and they show scene after scene of the car driving past panoramic views and otherwise mundane roadside sights. I love picturing Mom and Pop on Route 1 along the California coast with some cheesy 80's music playing. Somehow it all works, cheesy music and all, and you wish you were on the road with them.... and so do I.

A few of my favorite road trip movies....
  • National Lampoon's Vacation
  • Dumb and Dumber
  • Tommy Boy
  • Kingpin (Rated R... I know. This is from a previous life!)
  • The Muppet Movie
  • Rainman
... and a few others I haven't seen but know of....
  • Bonnie and Clyde
  • Thelma & Louise
  • Little Miss Sunshine
...what road trip movie is your favorite? mine?

Yea, me too. That is one sweet ride. In the words of Ferris Bueller, "It is so choice. If you have access to one, I highly recommend it." Although not a long road trip movie, definitely one of my favorites.

For all you lightweights -- CANNONBALL RUN is the best road trip flick ever. AND who really listens to 80s music driving Route 1? It's 60's all the way! I did get to see a herd(?) of elephant seals. The looked so warm and comfy, I thought if I snuck up and laid on my back they'd never know I was an intruder! It was better than I ever imagined! We'll blog and with pics when we get home. Brenda's got all the toys at hand. We'll have to wait until this weekend.
